I came across a 1912 $5 Indian Head Pendant… the face is actually painted brown and the war bonnet painted blue, yellow, green and red. can someone help me out with what this is; because I am not finding anything on it. ?

It's not uncommon for a jeweler to make a custom pendant out of a gold coin. Unfortunately, when you remove the coin there is usually some damage but it still has some numismatic value but it appears someone took this practice a little further by altering the coin with paint which is a true shame as it hurt the value of the coin even worse.

Not sure if there is any collectible interest in custom jewelry featuring U.S. coins.

No problem, I'd recommend checking and watching any similar items on e-bay and see if you can get any other leads or at least an understanding of the value.

I am interested by the subject, in France too are many many painted Euros and Francs. Well, some are really well made and should be considered as artist's works, but no more : it is dishonest to present them as official coins. Their numismatic value is none, and they should not (this is my point of vue) be included in a serious coin collection. Some official coloured coins (enamel or hologram) exist already, those ones are legitimate.
