Description

The obverse, designed by Arnold Machin, features the bust of Queen Elizabeth the II facing right.  On the outer periphery are the words “ELIZABETH II” and "D. G. REGINA" which is the abbreviation for the latin term Dai Gratia Regina or By the Grace of God, Queen.   Surrounding the overall design is a circle of beads.

The reverse features a unique design with a “100” to represent 100 years and in the first zero is a scene from Winnipeg's Main Street as it appeared in 1874 and the second zero is a scene of the same Main Street as it appeared in 1974.   The designer's initials “PP” are located at the bottom of the design while to the engraver Patrick Brindley's initial "B" is just above.   On the upper outer periphery is the word “WINNIPEG” and “CANADA DOLLAR”.  Surrounding the overall design is a circle of beads.
